Post-graduate course of Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University approved within research department of Azerbaijan Polytechnic University has been functioning since 1960. The main purpose of this course is training high qualified specialists (Philosophy Doctors).

After date of its formation, post-graduate course department of Azerbaijan Engineering and Construction University was a part of research department. Since 1977 post-graduate course of Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University has been functioning independently under the decision of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR.

Representatives of more than 40 countries were studying in post-graduate course of Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University, including students from Latin America, Germany, Cambodia, Lagos, Vietnam, African countries, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Arabic countries. Those students, who have increased their scientific potential and have defended their dissertation, were entitled to candidates of sciences. About 200 candidates of sciences and more than 40 Philosophy Doctors have been trained here from the date of its formation up to now.

Former graduates of post-graduate course are working presently not only in but also beyond our republic.

A decree numbered 129 on formation of doctoral candidacy institution was issued, and admittance rules were approved by order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic of Azerbaijan from July 1, 2010.

The role of doctoral candidacy institution in training scientists and teachers of Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University is irreplaceable.

The researcher who successfully defended doctoral dissertation in Dissertation Board, is entitled to the Doctor’s Degree by the decision of the Higher Attestation Committee under the President of Azerbaijan Republic.
