History and mission. The faculty of water economy and engineering-communication systems was established under the decision of the Academic Council of AzUAC on 20.09.2001 on the basis of the faculty of water economy, ecology and engineering systems and structures. First, hydro-melioration faculty was formed in Azerbaijan Polytechnic University in 1950.  Later the faculty was named differently – “Faculty of hydrotechnical melioration construction”, “Faculty of water economy and ecology”. After Azerbaijan Engineering and Construction University (now AzUAC) was established in 1975, the faculty was given the name “Sanitaly and technical”. Today, 830 students are being educated at Bachelor’s and Master’s courses of the faculty of water economy and engineering-communication systems. Graduates of the faculty work in such organizations of the Republic as “Azerigaz” CJSC, “Azersu” JSC, Melioration and water economy OJSC, Deep ocean base facility named after H. Aliyev, Azerbaijan State research Project Institute of sea transport, Baku city heat supply organization, Oil and Gas trest and others.

Study at the faculty. School-leavers that successfully passed test exams, organized by the State Students Admittance Committee, are admitted to the faculty. The study at the faculty is provided in Azeri and Russian languages.

Subjects: The following disciplines are taught at the faculty: Organization and technology of hydro technical construction works; Hydro technical melioration; Operation of melioration engineering systems; Hydro power station; Complex use of water resources; Gas supply, ventilation and conditioning systems; Heating systems; Diversion and purification of waste waters and operation of structures; Canalization and water supply of industrial enterprises; Water supply systems and their operation; Offshore oil and gas hydrotechncal structures; Oil-gathering and transport engineering structures and equipment; Study of offshore oil and gas structures; Operation and monitoring of melioration systems; Melioration, reclamation and protection of soil; Projecting of water economy systems; Complex use of water resources;

Study at the faculty: Study at the faculty is realized in 4 directions, on 7 specialties. Practical work is carried out on the 1^st and the 3^rd course. On the 1^st course – 3 weeks of study practice and 3 weeks of technological practice and on the 3^rd course – 2 weeks of production practice carried out. Department of engineering geodesy realizes study practice. Practice is held in the streets of Baku city. During the practice students get acquainted with tools and learn how to work with them. For provision of high level technological and production practice, AzUAC makes contracts with such leading profile organizations as following : “Azerigaz” CJSC, “Azersu” JSC, Melioration and water economy OJSC, Deep ocean base facility named after H. Aliyev, Azerbaijan State Research Project Institute of Offshore Transport, Baku city Heat Supply Organization, Oil and Gas trust and etc.

Types of researches. Research works on the following directions and subjects are held at the faculty: «Increasing of effectiveness and reliability of regional gas supply systems and systems providing microclimate in buildings and structures»; «Structuring of general theory of space differentiating many variable functions and their application in theory of differential management of private production»; «Investigation of problems concerning durability and stability of river and continental and shelf hydro technical structures»; Investigation of irrigation and collector-drainage systems condition, as well as melioration areas on the territory of Azerbaijan Republic; «Investigation and usage of ecologically effective technologies (by means of combination) for using sea and fresh water in heating systems; «Investigation of technological parameters in creation of small structures for cleansing of industrial wastes polluted by oil»; Results of investigations are published in corresponding profile publications. Scientific and technical journal “Ecology and water economy” was created and is published at the faculty. Scientific works of faculty teachers have been published in such magazines as: - «News of higher technical learning institutes of Azerbaijan»;- «News» of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan;- «Natural and technical sciences» (Moscow);- «New subject» (Kiev);- «Actual problems of modern science» (Moscow);- «Oil economy» and others.

520 scientific articles, 54 books and teaching aids, 15 methodical tutorials were published by teachers and professorate of the faculty, 12 patents were obtained, as well.

The faculty is a member of such international structures as:- Regional technical Consulting committee on Asia and Caucasus, Global organization of water economy workers (Тashkent);- International Committee on hydro power stations (London);- HERZ (Austria); In 2005-2008 together with Rehln University (Germany) and Zuyd (Holland) AzUAC joined the TASIS-TEMPUS CD_JEP 25043 project (2004).

In compliance with this project, training of masters on the specialty of “Energetic management (in building)” was realized in the university.

Faculty. 10 professors, 52 candidates of science, 76 teachers an assistants work at the faculty.

- Heat supply and heating technique

- Water supply and diversion of waste waters

- Higher mathematics
